While not being the flagship of the company and was almost entirely created for advertising purposes, Norton Security Scan is easily utilized for assessing your computer’s security status. The declared purpose of this software application does not have almost anything to do with the intended one.

The first exclamation sign comes from the size of Norton Security Scan package and the lack of cloud scanning technology further adds to the suspicious items checklist. Definitely, this is a case of undercover advertising. Moreover, the fact that this particular piece of software can only process and fix a handful of malware elements while detecting more than it can actually take care of is enough for labeling it scareware.

The community is better off without Norton Security Scan and although there still is a great number of such software on the market, it does not portray the Symantec logo. Norton Security Scan can only be seen as a lesson to learn from and keep off software resembling the same idea of belligerent behavior towards the user.
