NotesMan brings to the table an overly simplistic note taking application that you can use to write down reminders, details you find interesting, code snippets, and so on. You can use it during your online research sessions to capture and save different pieces of information in a single place without too much hassle.

There is no need for you to install it, as NotesMan is a portable application. In other words, it does not leave any footprints on the local system and it can be used on the go.

Working with NotesMan is quite easy and intuitive. The main window hosts the list of available notes, each having an assigned number. To view a note, you can either double click on a note or select the dedicated option in the right-click menu.

Creating a new note is easy. You just have to press the “Add” button and NotesMan will open a separate window, where you can enter the title and the body of the note. We found that having to browse to a separate window is a bit uncomfortable. It would probably be more convenient to be able to read the note content in a separate panel.

Deleting a note is just as easy as adding a new one. You either push the “Delete” button on the keyboard while a particular note is selected or choose the dedicated option in the right-click menu.

NotesMan can easily organize notes in groups, allowing you to create as many groups as you need to keep everything in order. Notes can be moved between groups and, in turn, groups can be created and erased with just a few clicks.

NotesMan relies on its simplicity to provide a straightforward approach for a note taking application. It does not use emojis and does not use any text suggestions or spell-checking tools, on the idea that these can waste time and resources.

Nevertheless, simple is not necessarily good, as this application lacks a few interesting features its competitors do have. For instance, it cannot create sticky notes to place on the desktop. It does not feature options to create bulleted to-do lists. Taking care of a few security-related issues (creating private, password-protected notes) would also add to its value.
