If you typically work with USB flash drives and consider yourself to be handy with the computer, you can use NoVirusThanks USB Capture, a service-only application designed to automatically copy all contents from USB devices as soon as they are plugged into the computer.
Previous experience is required because this service tool doesn't have a typical graphical interface. On top of that, it might be tricky to get it up and running. If you encounter a missing file error when attempting to install USB Capture from the batch file, make sure to copy the folder to C: in order to create the following path: C:\USBCaptureSvc\Service\USBCaptureSvc.exe. The "config.ini" and "Exclude.db" files should also exist in this location, next to the USBCaptureSvc service launcher.
Once everything is in working order, you should be able to view the service running in Task Manager under the "USBCaptureSvc" name. It runs automatically at Windows startup by default but you can head over to Windows Services to change settings.
Taking into account the default configuration settings, NoVirusThanks USB Capture copies all files and folders from USB flash drives to the "USB-COPIED" folder, which exists in the same directory as the service launcher.
To point out a custom location, you have to open the "config.ini" file and edit the path. It sends activity details to file as well as the Windows Event Viewer. But you can disable these options or change the log path to something else.
The "Exclude.db" file contains details on how to exclude certain USB devices from the monitor, in order to not copy its files and folders. However, this requires you to get hold of another application in order to identify device IDs.
It worked smoothly on Windows 10 in our tests and had minimal impact on system performance. Although it might be a bit difficult to set up, NoVirusThanks USB Capture offers a simple, smooth solution from there on, in order to monitor USB devices and auto-copy files without having to tackle a graphical interface.
