If you own a Windows computer and you're much of a tinkerer, there's no way you didn't hear about Windows' native Registry Editor (or the RegEdit, how we like to call it often) and appreciate how it can get you out of sticky situations.
However, sometimes Windows' native tools don't provide you with the level of freedom you'd prefer, that's why specialized, third-party software solutions such as NtRegEdit were developed.
Since it's a portable tool, you don't need to install this application on your computer, as simply unpacking the archive the files come in and launching the executables as soon as you identify them should be enough to access all the app's functions.
After you unpack the archive, you'll be able to find three different versions in the root directory. You can pick either one of them, according to your preferences.
Unlike its built-in analog, this registry editor uses native registry APIs instead of relying on the Microsoft Registry APIs in the "AdvApi32.dll" file, which is nothing short of a wrapper to the Native Registry APIs.
It is worth noting that there is still a bit of dependency to the AdvApi32.dll since many other APIs are still contained by it. The functionality of this registry editor is greater than Windows' built-in tool. However, novices should not attempt to tamper with any of the registry entries, as doing so might cause irremediable damage to their systems.
If you're looking for a replacement for Windows' built-in registry editor, you might want to consider giving NtRegEdit a try, since it has everything you need and more.
