Sticking to a single browser nowadays is a rare feat and most of the users are going with at least two search engines in their daily routine. Maintaining a single browser clean isn't a chore as its settings would allow you to erase all its data in a couple of seconds. However, if you are not sticking to a single web crawler, you may want to look for a tool that can manage them all. O&O BrowserPrivacy is a time-saving utility that can erase data from the most popular browsers out there.
From the beginning, you have to be aware that O&O BrowserPrivacy works only with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsft Edge/ Internet Explorer. If you need specific data from a specific browser without affecting the others, deselect all the elements you need to keep away from the process. A general deletion can be done by selecting all (lower-left corner button) and starting the cleanup.
There are six deletion methods each differing by the security level it offers. Each method sports a different number of runs that will override and add random values to your data in order to make it harder to recover. For example, the Lower Security offers a single run, executed in the shortest amount of time but impacting security. However, the highest security methods will execute 35 runs; it will take some time but you can be sure that your data is safely removed.
Regarding SSDs, there is only one method available and it will be automatically detected by your system. SolidErase applies only to SSD as the internal structure of the drive differs from the HDDs.
In case you see that warning message at the end of the process, keep in mind that there are some files that cannot be erased due to several reasons. Most of the time, the file is opened by other programs and identifying and closing that program can fix it, however, some files cannot be erased as they are locked by the system.
O&O BrowserPrivacy is a straightforward tool that can delete data from multiple browsers at once, as long as they are supported. The deletion takes little time and the possibility to specify what browser and what type of data should be affected make for a useful feature. On the other side, an update covering more browsers would be welcomed as the market is wide and more search engines are coming to light.
