The heyday of cable television may be long gone for some users, what with the abundance of streaming services out there, but it is still a very relevant outlet of information and entertainment in today’s age.
Even so, some users forgo paying for cable television, and instead rely on the streaming services on their Smart TVs to get their fix. By leveraging IPTV and packaging it in a user-friendly interface, Open TV makes it easy for you to keep up to date with your favorite channels and enjoy whatever’s on TV, right from your desktop.
To start out, users will need to either select an M3U file or paste an M3U link to get their playlist’s channels. Provided you have the credentials, Xtream is also supported and should work without issues.
If you don’t know where to procure a playlist, a quick search should point you in the right direction. There are various publicly available resources for anyone to use, so it’s really nothing too difficult.
Once that is dealt with, it’s time to tune into your favorite streams. Some playlists may feature fewer channels, while others may specifically cater to certain audiences, so feel free to look around.
As stated earlier, some playlists differ in terms of the channels they offer. The broadcast player is mpv, which worked without issue in my case. I was able to start watching without any delays. Some streams may be harder to connect to than others, so this does also depend on the channel you’re watching.
Note that you can also group channels by marking them as favorites. Some are even grouped into categories, so that you can get to your preferred content faster.
Open TV worked very well as an IPTV app. It took very little time to set everything up, and having the streams work without any buffering or ads made for a pleasant experience.
