Especially designed for developers and database administrators who need to create and design native database applications, Oracle Data Access Components includes various components that provide direct connectivity to Delphi, Lazarus, Embarcadero RAD Studio and even C++ Builder.
Since the integrated classes are based on VCL, LCL and FMX interfaces, Oracle Data Access Components (shortly known as ODAC) proves to be a reliable replacement solution for the Borland Database Engine.
Because of the included components such as TOraQuery, TOraTable, TOraUpdateSQL, TConnectDialog and TSmartQuery, to name a few, you are able to retrieve data from Oracle tables using SQL statements, execute stored procedures and functions, run sequences of SQL and PL/SQL scripts, as well as build custom prompts for usernames, passwords and server names. You are able to transfer data between TDataSets and System.Data.DataSets.
By default, in case you want to compile a project that uses ODAC classes, you need to make sure that your current IDE has access to the ODAC dcu (obj) files, otherwise you won’t be able to deploy and compile any of your database applications.
What’s quite interesting at Oracle Data Access Components is that it enables you to work with Oracle not only in the Client mode, but also directly via a TCP / IP protocol without actually using the Oracle client.
As the application supports various Oracle objects and components such as arrays, cursors, pipes, PL / SQL tables, pictures, Direct Path loadings, Change notifications, transparent application failovers and transactions, you are able to write efficient and flexible applications in an intuitive manner.
Considering all of the above, Oracle Data Access Components proves to be a steady and feature-rich Oracle connectivity solution that helps you to develop native database applications effortlessly.
