While watching videos on the web is all well and good, some of us prefer to also download anything more noteworthy. Perhaps you’re just fond of a particular video, as no matter if you’re a data hoarder or not, having certain clips removed from the web is no fun at all. As such, it’s not a bad practice to store such content locally.

Orbit Video Downloader will download your clips from all manner of sources — YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Vimeo, and many others — and give you the opportunity to convert them into a different format, all under the same interface.

The program facilitates the download process for video files from most popular platforms. Usually, it’s enough to paste the link into the program’s interface without interacting with any menu, and the download will proceed as configured by default. Normally, files will download in 1080P, but you can opt for lower or higher qualities if you desire.

Note that it’s possible to expressly download only the audio feed of a video, which can be useful if you’re downloading music videos. Optionally, subtitles can also be included, if available.

Downloading clips from YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Vimeo, and other popular platforms worked as expected during my testing. You can choose to schedule certain downloads if you don’t want to overflow your bandwidth.

A conversion utility is also included, which can be used in multiple ways. You can opt to have the program automatically convert a video file following its download, or instead choose a clip from your system via the Add Conversion menu instead. Many formats and codecs are supported, so the app should cover most uses.

Interestingly, a video player is a bit of an amenity at this point, but it’s nice to see it included. Clicking Preview on a downloaded clip will begin playback, which exhibited stutering in all videos during my testing. Anyhow, it can work decently if all you want to do is check if a video has downloaded properly.

Orbit Video Downloader should work well for most batch video downloading uses. Though the video downloader/converter tool market isn’t exactly scarce in supply, this is a solution that should be worthwhile for a general audience.
