Oscar's MultiShow

Oscar's MultiShow is a lightweight desktop enhancement intended to assist users in quickly displaying slideshows of their images.

The program can be used as a substitute screensaver, although users should first disable the Windows default-one. This is necessary because the resource will pause when the screensaver activates. During the show all shortcuts are hidden behind the displayed images and only the taskbar is visible.

This being said, the program does not lock the desktop or the computer, and users are free to open applications or the Start menu. Oscar's MultiShow runs from the system tray and adjustments to its configuration are performed by opening the context menu.

One could say the utility is unobtrusive, and another argument in favor of this statement is the fact that it uses very few system resources. This is achieved by running on idle priority.

In order to create a slideshow, users need to load one or more multimedia folders. Most common graphics formats are supported and the application will, by default, display pictures in sequence. This is customizable, as randomized shows are also possible.

There are two methods of displaying images: “Normal Fit” (case in which black vertical or horizontal bars will fill in the spaces resulted from the difference in resolution between the selected image and the user's display) and “Zoom-in Fit” (which stretches the picture to match the desktop settings).

A nice feature is the fact that application allows users to run the slideshow on certain monitors (if available). Also, the transition time between pictures can be adjusted.
