The integrated Task Scheduler in Windows is not necessarily difficult to use, but users must be familiar with all the tasks and know exactly what each does. Otherwise, they risk having a needed service inactive without being aware of the consequences. That is where PC Tasks Optimizer comes in.
PC Tasks Optimizer offers an more intuitive way to disable certain unnecessary tasks that might result in slow processing speeds while also providing intelligible options for novices to understand.
In other words, for each task of group of tasks, PC Tasks Optimizer not only displays its name (e.g. Consolidator, HotStart, ScheduledDefrag, etc.), but it also shows an explanation meant to show the user what that particular task does (e.g. 'I have opted out of the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program, My PC does not support Hotstart, I don't want Windows to defrag my hard disk, etc.).
Each option is accompanied by a small description, the task path and its current status (ready / disabled).
There are various options to choose from. Users can disable the Active Directory-related tasks or scheduled actions related to Bluetooth connections, hard disk defragmentation, location tracking, performance assessments (WinSAT), logon and background synchronization, registry backups, remote assistance, restore points, or UPnp.
You can deactivate Windows SmartScreen operations and tasks that are related to Windows Error Reporting and Windows Defender.
PC Tasks Optimizer can change the way users interact with the Task Scheduler in Windows. They can choose the options that suit their computer usage habits best, and disable services they don't need.
The straightforward way each scheduled task is presented is what makes this application worth your while. With the push of a button, the status of the selected tasks is changed (from 'disabled' to active' and viceversa). If you want to re-enable a set of tasks, you have to select them all and press the 'Optimize Tasks' button again; it would be great to have a 'Revert changes' button to avoid this.
