Picture To Icon is one of the apps supposed to help you create icons, providing support for a wide array of formats, while also being capable of capturing an area of the screen.

In plain English, Picture To Icon can build a new icon using various photo formats as source, but also screen captures, all with a great amount of customization options. Plus, it can also extract icon from libraries, with supported formats including EXE, DLL and OCX.

Once you open a new picture to convert it to icon, Picture To Icon launches a dedicated wizard to prepare the photo, prompting you to configure the size, transparent colors and other parameters.

Picture To Icon supports multiple icon sizes, but it also lets you fill colors, draw and zoom, with a dedicated option to choose color bit.

If you wish to use the snipping tool, you first need to adjust the icon dimensions. Afterward, the whole process comes down to dragging a cross to capture the screen area, with the same editing process started once again.

One of the drawbacks of the app is that it doesn't allow you to enter custom icon sizes, which means you have use the built-in ones exclusively, ranging in between 16x160 and 240x240, but they offer a generous range anyway.

The supported image formats include JPG, BMP, GIF and CUR, so no PNG support for the time being. Extraction can also be quickly triggered from the new context menu entry if selected in the setup process.

Overall, Picture To Icon does what it says with minimum effort and the way it presents all customization options to users is quite user friendly. Plus, everything is clean and well organized, so beginners can safely give a shot to this program as well.
