Desktop notifications can be received for a variety of activities. You can also configure custom notifications to trigger based on different events. Chances are you need third-party applications for this operation, and PixelNotifier is a suitable example, letting you easily create a script to detect color changes and have a message displayed.
First of all, you can take the application for a spin right after it’s done downloading, because there’s no setup involved to take any of your time. Runtime doesn’t put a strain on stability since registry entries are not modified in the process. This makes it suitable to be carried around on a thumb drive and used on other computers besides your own.
A sample script is activated on launch to show you what can be accomplished. Launching it also creates a tray icon with a corresponding menu that lets you manually activate specific scripts, or create new ones.
However, changing any options or creating new scripts is done by editing the INI configuration file. On the other hand, detailed descriptions make sure you don’t get stuck along the way, with each element neatly explained.
Alerts aren’t configured based on time, but rather on color changes in a specific set of coordinates. An alert is triggered every time the target pixel changes its color to the selected one. This can come in handy for monitoring taskbar notifications or others which are difficult to observe.
A custom message as well as a WAV file can also accompany the basic trigger. You might find it a little difficult to specify colors at first because input needs to be in HEX code, but there’s a picker tool to use for easier creation of new scripts.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that PixelNotifier comes with a particular method of showing notifications, but it gets the job done overall. Even though creating scripts requires a bit of code writing, helpful descriptions and examples make sure adding new items to the list doesn’t take much effort.
