Pokemon Showdown is a fun battle simulator that offers you the possibility to put your skills to the test by fighting practically any Pokemon included in the Pokedex.

For a quick match, you can go into a random battle, but Pokemon Showdown also provides support for choosing particular types of encounters or creating custom teams.

Within the Pokemon Showdown main window, you can either browse chat rooms to connect with other community members or directly choose the battle format and start playing.

The simulator keeps the battles organized into groups: ORAS Singles/Doubles/Triples, OM of the Month, Metagames, Randomized Metas, DPP Singles, BW2 Doubles/Singles, RoA Spotlight, or Past Generations.

To be able to enter a battle you must setup a nickname: Pokemon Showdown will automatically assign you an avatar, but you can easily change it, together with the background style or chat settings.

Within the battle window, you get to choose the Pokemon and the attack style you want to use: Pokemon Showdown provides extensive details about each weapon, and you get to start a timer to make sure your opponent does not take too long.

Pokemon Showdown comes with a Team Builder that offers you the option to create as many Pokemon teams as you like: just provide a name and start adding Pokemon. To streamline the process, Pokemon Showdown comes with a detailed list of Pokemon that also features a simple search tool.

Note that Pokemon Showdown tracks the performance of each player, and you get to see the main ladder rating, the Glicko X-Act Estimate, the Glicko-1 value, and the Converging Order Invariant Ladder status. Moreover, Pokemon Showdown keeps different ladder statistics for each battle format.

Pokemon Showdown offers you the possibility to have fun pitting against each other almost any Pokemon in the Pokedex. Your performance is logged, and you get to compare it with the achievements of other players from all around the world.

What’s more, Pokemon Showdown allows you to define custom Pokemon teams, gives you the option to watch other battles, and even helps you find specific players.
