There is no shortage of organization tools, but sometimes the simple solution is the best. Quick Notes is a desktop note tool that allows users to create post-it notes, notebooks and note boards for a desktop. With additional options to help organize a schedule, customize notes, and hotkey commands to make the program more efficient.
There are many post-it applications on the market and in an effort to make itself more unique, Quick Notes offers some extra designs and additional tools that others might not have. For instance, as well as the standard notes, users can open a notebook feature that is designed to look like an actual notebook, with turnable pages.
There is also a note board feature that mimics a cork board that users can pin notes too, which is questionable in its use. The advantage of post-it notes is that they can make important information visible without taking up too much space, the additional note types in Quick Notes don't have that advantage. While the notebook and note board are useful, they are not efficient and take up more space than users might look. The notebook in particular can be replaced by any text document.
Quick Notes is not free, in fact for what it does some might consider it expensive, given that there are other applications that compete with it that are free. It is important that the program offers enough features and advanced options to try and justify that price.
The notes are fully customizable, with the size, font, and color all being changeable. The hotkey feature is a welcomed addition, but something users probably expect, as are several of the other options. The best feature the program provides by far is the password option, allowing users to hide and secure their notes behind a serious encryption. Unfortunately, the biggest feature the application is lacking is a schedule option, to schedule notes with their calendar or use the program in a more organizational role.
Unfortunately, while Quick Notes is undoubtedly a helpful tool that users might enjoy, it is dragged down by a few design choices. Several of the note features are not particularly useful, and while they seem quirky and interesting, their practicality is just not there. The lack of a schedule option, automating notes to appear on specific days or times as reminders is a big problem. While Quick Notes offers some solid features, it also lacks, making the price more of an issue.
