RARZombie

RARZombie is a tiny application written in Java that permits you to automatically extract files from RAR archives in bulk. It doesn't come packed with complicated options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.

Provided that you already have Java installed on your PC, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can drop the .jar file anywhere on the disk and just click it to launch RARZombie. Another possibility is to save it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit to directly run it on any computer with minimum effort. Plus, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

It adopts a large window with a neatly organized structure that lets you include as many folders and subfolders you want, in order to extract files from all containing RAR archives. Plus, you can specify the search depth.

The app can be asked to delete the compressed files after the extraction, preserve the subfolder structure, process only directories where there are at least two RARs present, or define the minimum and maximum file size to take into account for the task.

You can overwrite existing files or skip them, as well as add the directories to a monitor, so that RARZombie will automatically extract files from new RARs as soon as they are identified. Settings can be saved to a new profile.

We haven't discovered any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the utility didn't hang, crash or display error messages. It carried out extraction jobs in reasonable time while remaining light on system resources, using only a small amount of CPU and RAM.

RARZombie offers a simple solution to extracting files from multiple RAR archives in batch mode, and it can be handled by anyone with ease. Too bad that it hasn't been updated for a while.
