RegTick is a lightweight freebie that provides access to many hidden Windows customization options.

A plain and simple interface is in charge of bringing all features to its users, grouping all options in categories listed in a separate panel.

The “one window does it all” approach is clearly helpful, although the lack of information on the available tweaks may scare away a few rookies.

Basically, RegTick lets you tweak the Windows Start Menu, the Control Panel, the desktop, Internet Explorer, the network, media and security.

For example, you can hide Control Panel in Windows Explorer, disable add and delete printer, hide “Shutdown” in Start menu, disable ratings and messaging in Internet Explorer, prevent codec download in Windows Media Player and disable HTML wallpapers.

While there are plenty of options available in RegTick, some of them are only compatible with Windows 9x versions, so they won’t work on newer releases.

As we said, the complete lack of information isn’t quite good news for beginners, but a lot of information can be found online on almost every single option included in this app.

RegTick works well on all Windows flavors, including on Windows 7, but administrator privileges are required on this particular version.

All things considered, this lightweight application comes with a great amount of customization options, but we all agree that future enhancements are still required. There’s no backup tool and you can’t even revert to the original settings, which is quite an issue in case something goes wrong with your new configuration.
