Your desktop space can easily become cluttered either because of too many desktop shortcuts of various windows you need to keep active. It can take some time to manually arrange windows to make your workspace more comfortable, but you can use applications like Scott's Window Resizing Utility to easily set a custom size value to them.
The application comes in an incredibly lightweight package and doesn’t even need to be installed on your computer to work. This means you can carry it around on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well, without worrying that the health status is affected, because system registries are not modified.
All features are stored in a pretty compact window that keeps things simple, letting you accommodate in a jiffy. However, you might end up scratching your head for a while, because all window processes are shown by default, making it a bit difficult to identify the one you need, unless you choose to show only visible ones.
There’s the possibility to drag a dedicated crosshair over a target window, so that it gets highlighted in the list, and selected. The current size values of the window are shown, while other two fields let you specify width and height. Sadly, there aren’t any preset values, or resolutions to quickly resize a window, and you can’t save any profiles in this regard.
Apart from the resize function, Scott's Window Resizing Utility also lets you view running processes, with the possibility to kill those that aren’t used. Not all of them are properly detected though. Moreover, you can use the pointer function to either obtain color code for specific areas, or simply view more details about a window of interest.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Scott's Window Resizing Utility does what the name suggests, but leaves a bit more to be desired. The overall process can be difficult at first, especially since there are no preset values. What’s more, it’s also bundled with two additional tools, but they too lack the depth to make this app a pro.
