Working with multiple monitors or simply wishing to duplicate an existing view of an app or display area does require the use of special software. ScreenAreaViewer will allow one to select a preferred display area, move the resulting view box and basically duplicate that view for various purposes, such as live streaming or when using dual-monitor setups.
The initial impressions right after installing and deploying the app point out to the fact that the developers of this software paid little to no attention to the design aspect. Not only does the interface look obsolete, legacy-like, but spelling errors in feature names are also present.
If going past the initial downsides, it is good to know though that the interface can be resized and that all buttons and corresponding features are functioning in proper order.
The main working principle behind the app lies in the selection of a screen area that is to be duplicated for whichever purposes users prefer. This selection is done by manually inputting the pixel values for both the vertical and horizontal axes.
Moving the “viewing area window” is done by using a set of on-screen controls that allow incremental transition to all four directions. This manual input and “click to move” approach might be quite precise, but it isn’t the most intuitive and easy-to-use.
Those who require the means to define a custom area on their displays’ which is to be duplicated for various purposes, be it live view or for when working with multiple monitors could find a decent performer in this program. However, due to its lack of more advanced features and overall “cheap” aspect, it might not be the ideal choice.
