SecureMe aims to provide users with an easier way to manage their computer, starting with its security configuration and moving on to processes, services and other settings. Its purpose is to conveniently place some of the most widely used Windows functions in a single application.

When launching SecureMe, users are greeted by a tab-based interface where all the settings are one-click away. The design of the interface is quite sloppy, with two tabs that overlap each other. The GUI is definitely a minus in SecureMe, requiring a complete overhaul to meet today’s standards.

The main tab of SecureMe bundles the three security-related configuration options, allowing one to opt for either full, basic or custom security levels.  Performing a full secure of the system means that SecureMe takes action to enable the Windows Firewall if it finds that it is turned off, it disables IPv6 and the Guest user account, and it enables the automatic updates in Windows, all to make sure that your computer is safe aaat all times. Alternatively, you can choose the Basic secure mode, which only applied a few of the aforementioned settings. Regardless of their choice, uses are not given any prior details about the settings that will be applied, but they are prompted for confirmation.

While the full and the basic secure modes have a predefined set of security settings to apply, the “Manual secure” mode makes it possible for users to configure all the settings on their own.

Aside from the predefined security configuration modes described above, SecureMe comes with access to the computer’s users, services and processes. In other words, it can be used as a management tool for users, services, processes and ports. It also displays information about the local operating system and it provides a built-in uninstaller, allowing one to easily remove programs that are no longer needed.

As one can imagine, there is nothing in SecureMe that cannot be done via the Control Panel or the Task Manager in Windows, but this application brings it all under the same roof.

When thinking about how convenient it is to have the most used Windows system settings at hand in a single application, one could say that SecureMe is worth trying. However, there is nothing one can do with SecureMe that it is impossible to perform with Windows’ embedded tools.
