Set Default View is a handy little add-in made for Microsoft PowerPoint. If you find yourself doing the same things over and over when you open presentations, this tool can really help speed things up! It lets you set your favorite viewing mode every time you start a presentation or create a new one from scratch.
This program came about because of an old problem with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000. Back then, it could only open and create presentations in normal view, which was pretty limiting. Thankfully, Set Default View provides a great workaround for that!
The whole package comes as a single .ppa file. Just double-click it to load Set Default View in PowerPoint. If you’re using the latest version of PowerPoint, a window might pop up asking if you want to enable or disable macro support because it sees the add-in as potentially risky. Make sure to enable it so everything works smoothly!
Once you're all set up, head over to the Add-ins tab in the ribbon bar. Look for the Toolbar Commands area and click on the menu next to Default. You can choose your go-to default view from options like Slide, Notes page, Handout master, and more! There are plenty of choices.
The best part? You don’t need to click any extra buttons to save your changes; they happen automatically! To see how well it works, just open a new document after you've set everything up.
In short, Set Default View is an easy and effective way to improve your productivity with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations by sticking with your favorite viewing mode each time you open an existing file or start fresh. Even though it hasn’t had updates in a while, we found that it worked perfectly on Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 during our tests.
