If you're interested in software solutions to help you better organize your files in order to find them faster, you can take a look at SetTags. It's a Windows tool capable of setting tags to any file, no matter what format it has.

Installing this program takes minimal time and effort, thanks to the fact that there are no special steps during the setup phase. As far as the interface goes, SetTags is not much of a looker.

It seems to have eliminated any unnecessary graphical elements, opting for a simple and straightforward appearance instead. The options are not quite intuitive, though. Fortunately, each setting is accompanied by a description to help you figure out how the app works.

Tags can be applied to multiple files in bulk, and this information can be later viewed in Windows Explorer. You can manually add tags to files which don't have any tag-related information, as well as edit existing tags by specifying a name and description. When it comes to batch processing, it's possible to either include or exclude files (by regex and system and hidden file attributes).

Otherwise, SetTags can be instructed to automatically generate tags based on the metadata of each file. It can tag single files or multiple items from a multi-selection or folder content. Tagged files can be viewed in a slideshow, internal file browser or as shortcuts. They can also be compressed in a ZIP archive and exported to file, which comes in handy for users who do not wish to run SetTags.

All aspects considered, SetTags provides practical options for helping users organize files by tags. If we had to mention one negative aspect about it, it would have to do with the graphical interface which is not very intuitive.
