Given the fact that the Internet is overloaded with content, it goes without saying that you need some sort of filtering system so that you can receive and read the information that interests you. A simple way to keep track of the desired content is to use a feed reader, as it can curate the news you want automatically.

SideBarType RSS is a tiny utility that enables you to receive the latest updates and news directly on your desktop exhibited in a sidebar that you can enable and disable with a double-click.

The application does not come with an interface per se, but rather you can access it from the System Tray following the installation. You can get started by accessing the Configuration window and adding the links that you want to follow. The utility comes with clear instructions about how to add the links and you can preview the full list of the links you are tracking in this window.

Depending on your schedule, you can configure the tool to stop displaying notifications while certain programs are running on your computer. You can add programs that mute news alerts from the Suppression of notification tab in the Configuration window.

Switching between different links that you keep track off can be done from the sidebar window. More precisely, you can select the feed you need by accessing the little arrow located in the upper right corner of the sidebar. You will be happy to learn that the utility display whether or not you access a link and marks it as read or unread accordingly.
