SignTool UI is a handy tool made just for software developers. This simple application lets you sign files that meet AuthentiCode certificates or assemblies. It even includes timestamps from well-known providers like VeriSign, StartCom, GlobalSign, Comodo, and Starfield Tech.
The cool thing about SignTool UI is that it's small—just a compact .exe file. You can save it anywhere on your PC and simply double-click it to get started. Want to run it on another computer? No problem! Just keep it on a USB flash drive and run it directly from there.
Just a heads up though—you'll need SignTool.exe from the Windows SDK to use this program since it only acts as a graphical interface. Also, make sure you have .NET Framework installed on your PC; otherwise, the app won't work right.
The main window of SignTool UI sticks with a standard .NET Framework form. It keeps things simple with an easy layout that shows everything you need without any fuss.
You can kick things off by browsing through the Microsoft certificate store to pick out the certificate you want for assembly signing. Remember, these certificates must meet SignTool's criteria to be valid. The app will show you the website address where the certificate was issued and its thumbprint, which works like a serial number.
After selecting your certificate, all that's left is picking the assembly you want to sign and choosing the timestamp provider. Then just hit the "Sign" button and let the program do its magic! You'll see details about the assembly's file name and size too.
A little downside? It would have been awesome if SignTool UI could sign multiple assemblies at once!
Even though SignTool UI doesn't have tons of features or an eye-catching design, it gives you a straightforward and user-friendly GUI for SignTool. You can easily sign assemblies using Microsoft-approved certificates by visiting this link!
