Silicon Labs MCU Production Programmer is a cool little app that helps developers program devices and save their configuration files. This handy tool gives you a quick look at all the production programming options available with Silicon Lab devices.
When it comes to programming those uninitialized devices, there are two main ways to do it: pre-programming and in-system programming. The in-system method means the programming is already installed on the system, which needs certain pins to work properly.
The pre-programming method is for devices that have already been set up and installed. Developers don't need to worry about design here; they just install the right system using a HEX or binary file they've gotten from Silicon Labs or their reps. Just a heads-up: this method isn't super flexible, so it might not be great for devices that change often.
Both methods work well, but picking the right one really depends on whether you can access those debug pins. If neither of those options works out, developers might want to think about in-house programming. This approach works best for custom devices. Once your device is programmed, you can use a bootloader to upload app code via UART or other supported interfaces.
If you're looking for an efficient way to program your devices, check out Silicon Labs MCU Production Programmer. It’s user-friendly and packed with features that make programming easier!
