SmartCodeComponent is a handy little tool that helps you add barcodes to your documents. You can use it by itself or plug it into any Windows-based program that supports OLE Server. This includes popular software like Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and even WordPad!
Once you install SmartCodeComponent, adding it to Microsoft Word is super simple. Just go to the "Insert" menu, select "Object," and you’ll find it there! A default barcode pops up in your document, and if you double-click on it, you can change its properties right away. Plus, if you want to skip the whole opening another app thing, you can also launch it directly from its executable file.
The main window of the app looks clean and easy to navigate. It showcases a big version of the default barcode so you can see what you're working with right off the bat. You can tweak the properties from the ribbon bar as needed!
This tool gives you plenty of options when it comes to 1D barcodes. Some of the types available include EAN12, CODE128 (and its variants), CODE39, and many more! You have lots of choices depending on what you're looking for.
You can also customize things like the barcode prefix code based on where you're using it or which organization it's for. There are options to adjust dimensions like bar ratio and width too! Plus, you can set how text appears next to your barcode—like font size and style—as well as other effects like strikeout or underline.
If you're happy with your barcode, saving it is just as easy! From the "File" menu, you'll find options to save your barcode image in formats like WMF, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, GIF or BMP.
