Snake Eye Vision is a fun little app that lets you peek into the world through a snake's eyes! Did you know that animals see things differently than we do? Some can spot colors we can't, while others have better night vision or can even see infrared light, like in those action movies!

How Does Snake Eye Vision Work?

This app isn’t going to work without a video capture device, so make sure you've got a webcam set up on your PC. When you fire up Snake Eye Vision, you'll see a small window pop up with two video displays. One shows what humans see (on the left), and the other tries to mimic how snakes perceive their surroundings (on the right).

Understanding Snake Vision

The idea behind this app is that snakes don’t have the best eyesight. Their vision mainly helps them detect movement. So, when you look at the right side of the screen, it might mostly appear dark. But if something moves in front of your camera, you'll catch a glimpse of its shape!

A Little About Snakes' Eyesight

It's true that many snake species don't see well at all. However, they aren’t completely blind! Long ago, some snakes were burrowers and didn’t need great vision until they started hunting above ground.

Daytime vs Night-time Hunters

Interestingly, some snakes have adapted to hunt during the day while others are fantastic night hunters with special infrared night vision—like real-life predators! Even if some snakes can't pick out details very well, they can still recognize shapes even when they're not moving.
