There are multiple ways to control Windows features, be them through mouse gestures, or hotkey commands. If default methods are not enough, there are also some third-party methods of solving your needs. For instance, Sound Volume-7 is the type of application to use in case there are no other ways to adjust system volume.

You get to install the application quickly, with the possibility to have it launched right afterwards. Don’t worry if nothing shows up on the desktop on launch, because the application always stays minimized to the tray area. Needless to say that there’s an associated menu from which to handle a few controls, and even view assigned hotkey commands.

There’s no need to go through a system restart for the application to work. What’s more, it comes with an option to always run with Windows, so that it’s ready by the time you reach the desktop. You don’t need to go through a great deal of effort to disable this option, because you find it in the settings panel.

The application takes control over the system volume, but it doesn’t mean you can’t adjust it through other methods as well. Sadly, it comes with predefined hotkey commands which can’t be changed, which is rather disappointing, even though the default configuration is comfortable enough.

As such, you need to use the Ctrl+Shift combination along with either plus or minus to increase, or decrease overall volume. Using the combination of special keys with backspace toggles mute. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t gradually move the volume slider, and there are at most four steps, thus creating a considerable change with no option to fine-tune volume.

All things considered, we can state that Sound Volume-7 comes with good intentions, and does manage to deliver an alternative way of adjusting overall system volume. Sadly, it doesn’t move the volume slider gradually, which can jump too much, and not according to your preferences.
