Stacks Docklet is a super handy extension that helps you see items from a folder in a cool Leopard OS style. It works with the RocketDock app, and you can add it to your dock to make navigation even easier!
To get started, you'll need to unzip the archive and copy those files into the Docklets folder found in your RocketDock installation folder. After that, you can add the docklet to your RocketDock interface right from the context menu. Just choose the folder and customize your icon settings to pick a thumbnail!
The best part? You can set up the docklet to show off any folder on your computer. When you click its icon, all those files and folders pop right up on your desktop! You can easily click on any file or folder to open it. Plus, you get options for sorting them by name, creation date, or file type.
The way your files are shown depends on how many are in the folder. If there are too many files for a fan display, don't worry; they'll arrange themselves in a grid! The docklet automatically adjusts this grid size so everything fits nicely. If you have a preferred display style, just set it up in the Options window where you can also change font styles and text sizes.
This tool is perfect if you often need quick access to certain folders for viewing or editing files. While it can't manage or rename files like Windows Explorer, it definitely looks better!
The response time can vary based on your computer's setup since the docklet animation does use quite a bit of CPU power. In our tests, we noticed that when using a folder with over three hundred files in automatic grid view, things got a bit sluggish — even freezing briefly at times! Plus, sometimes not all files fit on screen because of how wide the grid expanded.
If you're looking for an alternative navigation method over classic Windows Explorer and prefer using RocketDock instead, then Stacks Docklet might just be what you need!
