Start10

By now Windows 7 is quite obsolete which means that those who loved the start menu layout, like me, are doomed to abandon its memory, or is there anything that can be done about it? Well, there is and I must say I was surprised too.

Start10 is a cool application that aims to bring back the old Windows 7-type start menu to Win10 users, also allowing some customization on the side for a more tailored experience.

After installing it, you will notice the start icon being replaced with something similar to the original but at the same time distinct in terms of look. Clicking on this new icon will reveal the new start menu which is the older Windows 7 version with a couple of slight adjustments.

I thought the whole idea was cool and to be honest I did not even notice it standing out as old or out of time. It fits well with modern OS renditions.

Indeed, the program does allow one to further customize the start menu. The settings area features a lot of adjustments dealing with appearance, configuration, control, and desktop-related adjustments.

Start by selecting your preferred start menu layout which can either be Windows 7, 10, or something in-between named intuitively, Modern Style. I found this to be a mix of both styles in one tight package.

Menu transparency can be altered and overall I felt the whole experience was pretty close to feeling like the original one, meaning it does not stand out in any way. Windows could come with this feature, and it would be hard to notice it is not the original start menu. Start10 is worth checking out if you are nostalgic about the WIndows start menu in Windows 7 or in general if you do not agree with the newer versions of it.
