Startup Inspector is a small but powerful tool that enables you to view and manage programs which automatically run at system startup.
The user interface of the application is plain and simple. On the left side of the window you can view a treeview in which you can select "All Startup Items", "Local Machine" and "Current User".
You can view items in the startup folder or registry ("Run", "Run Once", "Service", "Service Once").
In the list, you can find out the name, file name, startup location, rating (unknown, not recommended, not required, user's choice, system required) and comment for each program.
If you select a specific program, you can also check out its parameters, startup location, as well as memory usage and peak memory usage.
You can save and load profiles, remove the selected or all disabled programs, open a program's folder and refresh the list.
This small software takes up a very low amount of system CPU and memory (as we have expected). There is not help file at your disposal and this can be a problem if you are a first-time user who's just started getting to know everything about startup programs. Also, you cannot view and export a log file.
The rating column displayed too many "unknown" marks during our tests and this stopped Startup Inspector from getting information on program parameters.
The bottom line is that Startup Inspector is a good program for managing applications which automatically run at Windows startup but we're sure you can find something even better.
