Surf is a handy app built on Electron that works on both Windows and Mac. It lets you easily collect notes and URLs, which are automatically synced to your personal account. So, whether you're at home or on the go, your info is always just a click away!

User-Friendly Interface

The tool has a sleek and clean interface that’s super easy to navigate. While it’s called “portable” because you can double-click the downloaded .exe file to open it, it's not entirely true since it does create files in your AppData folder.

Signing Up Made Simple

You need to sign up for free on Surf's website using your Facebook or Google Plus account. Even if you want to keep everything local, you'll still need to create an account first. After signing up, you'll get a token that you have to enter into the desktop app to keep things rolling.

Organizing Your Notes

The main window is split into two sections where you can create and access categories called “interests.” Adding links and notes is as simple as typing or pasting them into a text box—kind of like sending a message in an instant messenger! Surf automatically figures out what’s what, so no need to stress about sorting.

View Modes & Categories

You have two viewing modes: list and thumbnail. By default, items show up in a list view, but you can filter them by type—either URL or note. You can create multiple categories for organizing your stuff (but remember, one item can only belong to one group). Plus, sharing interests with friends via email is a breeze!

Edit with Ease

Hovering over any item gives you options like opening the link in your default browser or copying notes. You can also edit titles and descriptions for websites, add titles for notes, write hashtags, and even format text with bold or italic styles.

While Surf might not have every single feature out there like some other tools do, it covers all the basics for managing your notes and websites effectively.
