Having multiple apps running simultaneously means that toggling between each one will be a real challenge, especially when you don’t want to accidentally cover a particular layout or interface. Of course, the built-in Windows Tab manager can be of real help, except it doesn’t offer access to other apps than those already opened. Switch however, tries to overcome that inconvenience and will provide users with a floating dock which can hold their favorite apps, all accessible in a single click, regardless if they’re already running or not.
The main working principle behind the app’s functionality relies on a floating dock, which can be set to be displayed either on the right or left side of users’ screens. However, although by default these two positions are available, the dock can also be moved freely.
Featuring slots for up to 9 apps, the dock allows one to “populate” it with programs only by navigating to their respective executables. This is not ideal and it would have been beneficial if drag-and-drop operations were supported for app icons, or at least for Start menu items.
Showing or hiding the dock is done using the “Alt” key. Again, this is not ideal; having a single key instead of a key-combination can sometimes lead to confusion when working within other programs. There is however, the option of disabling the switching action, using the “AltGr” key.
Users can select for the apps to be initialized as maximized and set the dock to “auto-hide” mode, but there is no time interval setting.
Switch can surely help those who like to have all their favorite apps tucked into a toggleable bar which can be prompted using a single key
