Behind the flawless interaction between you and the computer stand an abundance of processes that read hardware components and transfer data between them in order to provide the feedback you request. Using specialized applications like System Inventory Tool you can go under the hood to view all technical details regarding your computer's hardware and software components.

All features are stored in an incredibly lightweight package that doesn't even require you to go through a setup process. Having seen this is a system analysis tool, it poses as a great advantage because it can be used on the go while keeping the host machine's registries intact.

The amount of effort you need to put into using the application is reduced to simply running it. Everything is automated and you aren't prompted for a single thing. Result is generated in the blink of an eye, but this only depends on your hardware and software specifications. This is because both counterparts are thoroughly put under the scope so you know everything that's going on.

What makes you run it again though, is to get even more details on your system. When results are displayed, you are advised to run the application with administrator privileges so it can gather all data it needs, but even so, gathered data is impressive.

Feedback is provided as soon as the scan process is done. Your default web browser pops up with a well-organized layout containing categories like inventory information, software and miscellaneous. However, these are just the headlines and are packed with more dedicated categories such as summary, hardware, printers, network interfaces, installed programs, Windows features or running processes and services.

Thorough details are provided, such as path and full name. What's more, installed applications can be looked up on Google so you can see whether or not they are harmful. There's also an operating system compatibility tab that lets you know if you can run several Windows titles, but not all of them are displayed.

Sadly, the application is not polished from all points of view and lacks an incredibly important feature, namely the possibility to save results. Although pointed out and redirected to an external link with hints on how to do so, you are only taken to a broken link and left to look for alternatives. The file is only temporarily created on your disk drive, with the only option being to save the file from the web browser.

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that System Inventory Tool is packed with impressive algorithms for gathering system info, but gets stuck somewhere along the way because of the complete absence of saving options. Overall, functionality and results are flawless, but it's one implemented “Save as” button away from being a pro.
