Tabbed Notes is a neat little text editor that’s all about making your writing experience simple and easy. While Microsoft Office is super popular, many folks still love the straightforward vibe of Notepad. That’s why some cool people in the open-source community decided to improve on that idea and create something even better.
When you double-click to open Tabbed Notes, you’re greeted with a sleek interface inspired by Google’s Material Design. It looks different from the usual Windows programs, which is a breath of fresh air! At the top, there’s a title bar that also works as a command ribbon, letting you easily open, save, or delete files.
If you like working late at night, you’ll appreciate the quick switch between dark and light themes right next to the window controls. Plus, there’s a tab bar below that lets you hop between multiple documents smoothly. This feature makes multitasking super easy—great for comparing similar text files!
Another handy feature is its accessibility option. You can zoom in or out of the interface by holding down the Control key and scrolling up or down with your mouse. This makes it easier to see everything just how you like it.
Now, it’s not all perfect. There are still some areas where Tabbed Notes could use a little work. For instance, you can’t resize or maximize its window right now, which can be frustrating. Also, the tabs don’t show document names clearly sometimes, and documents save as JSON files—which might not look great in other text editors.
If you’re searching for a text editor that lets you change scale independently from other apps or if you're used to Android's design style and want something familiar on Windows, then Tabbed Notes could be just what you need! Just keep in mind its few quirks so they don’t get in your way while working.
