tabspace is a command line application whose purpose is to easily convert tabs to spaces or viceversa. It particularly comes in handy to programmers, allowing them to automatically perform this conversion in C, CPP, CC, CS, H, and HPP files, and saving them a significant amount of time.
To view all the available commands of tabspace, you should run the "-help" command. Once you do so, a list of all the parameters you can use is displayed, along with explanations about each function.
By default, tabspace converts tabs to spaces, but you can configure it to convert spaces to tabs. It can process the file extensions mentioned above, but additional file formats can be added by specifying them as a parameter. You can also define inclusion and exclusion lists based on name patterns. The application is looking for these compatible formats inside the current directory, but a specific path can be defined.
Additional options allow the application to exclude white spaces at the end of a line or inside C/C++ strings. To put it another way, tabspace is also able to delete spaces from the end of each line.
If you only want tabspace to show you information about the tabs and the spaces without applying any changes, there is an option for that as well.
There are not many options to juggle with in tabspace, but the application does its job as promised. It manages to turn spaces into tabs and viceversa in various types of files.
