In Windows, the owner of a file or folder has the right to allow or deny access to other users to that particular resource. If the owner decides to lock out the file completely, then you are unable to access it even if you are logged in with an Administrator account.
As the name suggests, Take Full Ownership Context Menu Registry Hack is a tool that enables you to create the keys and values needed to add the Take Ownership command.
First off, it is worth mentioning that is not an application per se, but rather a type of runa keys that have been exported to a REG file. If you run the Add Take Ownership to Context menu one, it means that it creates the keys for adding this command in the context menu. As you probably hinted, running the remove command, simply deletes the aforementioned keys.
The idea behind this utility is to spare you from the trouble of doing it manually. While you can add the Take Command in the context menu without any particular app, you should bear in mind that you need to access the Registry Editor, look for the shell section and create the new key inside it. Afterwards, you need to modify the properties and create a new value in the runa and command folders that are going to be created.
The advantage of using the utility is that you do not have to edit the registry keys directly. Consequentially, there are fewer chances that you can make a mistake and render these keys obsolete and perhaps, are unable to perform simple file management operations on your system.
In the eventuality that you want to have better control over the files and folders on your computer and want to make sure that they are accessed solely by the authorized users, then perhaps Take Full Ownership Context Menu Registry Hack could come in handy.
