TcpTrace is a handy tool for Windows that acts like a tunnel between your client and a server. It’s an alternative to the tcpTunnelGUI solution, and it’s super easy to use!
The cool part? You don’t even have to install TcpTrace on your system! Just download the archive, extract it, and double-click the executable file to get started.
When you run TcpTrace, it’ll ask you to set up the communication channel with your remote system. This means you’ll need to provide a listening port along with the address and port of the server you want to connect to.
If you keep most options at their default settings and only change the remote server's address, TcpTrace will forward traffic from your local port right to that server. It’s that simple!
This is also where you can choose to create a log file. You can set its name and where you want it saved, so you'll have a record of everything happening during your session.
Once all that info is entered, TcpTrace starts tracing! You’ll see details like source IP addresses, timestamps, and how much data is coming in and out right on the main screen.
TcpTrace has some extra features too! You can display NULL markers or fix line feeds if needed. Plus, there are options to change font properties—so you can pick different styles and sizes for better readability.
This tool is designed to be straightforward; just set it up correctly, and it will do its job without any hassle. According to the developers, TcpTrace should work smoothly with all text-based Internet protocols!
