With the Internet being home to most info you need for nearly every day-to-day activity, it needs to be delivered fast. Although search engines can be accessed via web browsers, there are specialized applications that aim to fetch results faster and provide more ways to put it to good use. Amongst others, Telescope Search wants to make it all comfortable by letting you find anything of interest from your desktop.
Unlike what you might expect, the application does not attach itself to any of your web browsers, working independently. However, you still need one to access content since there's no preview section implemented, but the option to open pages is set to use your default browser so you can say it's all covered.
Most of the space is reserved for the results, which are either displayed as icons or in a list along with details like title, rank, URL and summary. Filter options can be applied commonly by clicking the appropriate criteria.
You can save search queries to lists in case you constantly need updated info on a specific subject. On the other hand, there's an implemented history tracker so you can view past activity. Bookmarks are not implemented, but export options do just fine.
To generate a proper result, the application retrieves queries from an abundance of web search engines which can be viewed in a list. What's more, you can add your own URLs to the list and edit it as you see fit, either to narrow down search results or target them at a specific field.
The biggest disappointment is the lack of its own browser, cutting out some degree of practicality. This is because each link needs to be opened in an external browser and it can take some time to find exactly what you need. What's more, there's no possibility to save a specific link as HTML, but only copy the link and manually store it for later use.
On an ending note, Telescope Search does come in handy when you need info from a large variety of sources, because of the abundance of engines it uses. However, the set of features leaves a little something to be desired and can take some time to browse through content without a proper and quick preview.
