Computer activities are heavily related to text, and some even require you to write the same paragraphs in different documents. Although these can easily be copied from other files, the process is time-consuming. Luckily, specialized applications like TextInsert want to help in this regard, letting you insert custom strings via hotkeys.

A cool thing about it is the lack of a setup process, which not only saves you some time and effort, but makes it possible to have the application easily carried around on a thumb drive in case you want or need to use it on other computer. This doesn’t affect the health status of the target PC, because registry entries remain intact.

The application comes with one thing in mind, which is to help you insert custom, large text strings virtually anywhere with the help of hotkey commands. It doesn’t want to get in your way when it comes to accommodation, thus presenting all editable slots and configuration options in a rather straightforward, yet intuitive window.

As far as customization options are concerned, these are more or less not there, with the application offering a fixed number of slots to use, namely ten. Sure enough this can feel like it’s enough, but it might not serve complex tasks pretty well. However, you can replace text strings you rarely use.

Adding a new string is either done by writing it down, or pasting from clipboard, because there’s no option to load existing files. Each field is fitted with an option to define a hotkey command, which can be nearly anything you can think of. You can have the program minimized to the tray area, and configurations saved. Sadly, it’s not possible to create different profiles.

Bottom line is that having to do with standard text strings regularly is an activity you can often encounter. In this regard, TextInsert does manage to make things a little more comfortable, allowing you to set just about any hotkey to specific strings, but it could have used support for multiple profiles.
