The Weather Network

Man has always tried to predict future events, including weather conditions in order to know how to organize activities. Nowadays, forecasts give us a glimpse of how the outside world feels like without even having to look out the window. The Weather Network is but one of the applications that can provide such info.

When the application runs for the first time it asks for permission to track down your location to provide accurate info. This only takes several seconds and you are taken to the main workspace.

Latest updates on temperature level are displayed first, as well as wind speed, humidity level, and atmospheric pressure. Unfortunately, details are only visible in Celsius units and speed in Km/h, thus limiting variety and accessibility.

An upper drop-down menu lets you select city for which forecasts to be shown. You are free to keep track of as many as you like, but you can only view them on by one, with no integrated feature that enables a comparison display.

The application gives you the possibility to take advantage of a few more features. Scrolling sideways gives you access to a satellite overview, by default set over your current location. Several view types are available, but you are not able to plan any routes or search for places of interest.

You can stay up to date with news all around the world due to an integrated feature. A few headlines are displayed, with the possibility to access them with a single mouse click.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that The Weather Network tries to offer an alternative to already existing forecast applications. It gets the job done good, but overall it feels a little rough around the edges. Available features greatly limit it, in spite that it tries to combine more useful tools.
