There are a lot of Windows XP users out there who always dreamed about a more attractive interface, maybe with a dock and a transparent taskbar and, although Microsoft has worked on the way its operating system looks, only some of these enhancements have been included.
If Windows 7 comes with the possibility to add taskbar transparency, Windows XP doesn't, but there's an app that can do it. This tool is called Transparent TaskBar and comes to lend a hand to users who want to make their Windows XP an eye-candy operating system by adding a transparency effect to their task bars.
Although designed to work solely on Windows XP, Transparent TaskBar also loaded on Vista and Windows 7, even it's pretty clear that this last version of the operating system doesn't quite need such an enhancement.
Nevertheless, Transparent TaskBar does add a transparency effect to Windows XP and even comes with some predefined settings, opaque, light, medium and heavy. Still, you can always choose your own transparency level using the floating slider that stays on the screen all the time.
In fact, that's also a drawback, because the slider cannot be minimized to tray, so you will have to move it in a corner of the screen, even when you don't need it anymore.
Transparent TaskBar runs on low computer resources, so you shouldn't notice a slowdown in performance when using the application.
This ligvhtweight utility can bring a really special flavor to your Windows XP operating system by implementing such a nice visual enhancement like a transparent taskbar can be.
