Do you just happen to just stare at your drives, wondering what is taking up all the storage space? You don’t have to, as there are tools like TreeSize Professional to shed light on the matter.

The program helps provide valuable insight into the distribution of files and folders across your drives, with both text and visuals, so that you identify space-consuming elements and reclaim storage.

The interface may not be eye-catching, but I feel it is well-organized with different tabs so that you can have a comprehensive view of your storage. You can specify columns and their order for each view or export, so you can customize the GUI to focus on your relevant metrics.

The app can also be integrated with File Explorer, a feature that can come in handy if you are managing dozens of files regularly. I like that the integration entails you can drag and drop files from the app to Explorer and vice versa.

I was pleasantly surprised by the search function, as I can look for just about anything on my local and network drives, as well as servers, if connected. To start a query, I had to enter some basic information such as name, type, size or date modified.

The results can be exported to various formats, including PDF, XML or HTML, so you can generate reports and spot trends. If necessary, you can also set up scheduled scans to check for storage changes, so you can investigate anomalies.  

The app also supports mass operations without you having to open other windows or tools. You can archive, copy, move or delete multiple files at once. This came in handy when I wanted to clear some temporary files.

TreeSize Professional is an intuitive, yet advanced tool that can help you understand how your storage space is used by simply showing the sizes of folders and files.

Based on your needs, you can dig further and go through detailed reports and statistics so you can learn how to manage the storage more efficiently in the future or identify potential irregularities or threats.
