If you are used to conceal your real identity while online via a VPN, then you probably heard of TunnelBear. Although its developers provide a user-friendly desktop VPN client, there are also dedicated extensions for popular browsers that allow you to reroute the Internet traffic without using a third-party application. Instead, you simply install an addon to get behind a virtual private network when browsing the Internet.
The Chrome extension provided by TunnelBear allows you to connect to a VPN in a matter of seconds. The addon is easily installed in your browser, without requiring a restart for the changes to take effect.
Once added to Chrome, TunnelBear displays a new button in the toolbar area, next to the address bar, a button that you can easily pin to get one-click access to the VPN. Pushing the button opens up the TunnelBear website, where you are prompted to login to an existing account or create a new one. If the correct credentials are provided, TunnelBear for Chrome automatically connects to the TunnelBear VPN, without you having to do a single thing. The connection status and the country of the VPN server are displayed by a tiny popup window.
While the TunnelBear desktop client can encrypt all your traffic, TunnelBear for Chrome targets data transferred via the Chrome browser. It is a much more convenient solution if you consider that you only need to conceal your identity when using Chrome.
