TxtReplace is a tool that can find and replace keywords in multiple text documents at the same time. It offers support only for .txt format and can be accessed from a Command Prompt window.
The syntax is TxtReplace.exe path find replace [/s] [/u] [/? | /h]], where /? or /h can be used to review the usage. If you want to replace a keyword from a single document, then you can type TxtReplace.exe filename.txt old_keyword new_keyword. If the file is not in the same directory as the program, make sure to write its path too.
To perform this operation on multiple files, then make sure to put them all inside one folder, then type TxtReplace.exe folder_path old_keyword new_keyword. Also, wildcard characters can be specified for the path or file. All string matches will be replaced, and files with any other extension than .txt will be ignored by the application, so no errors can occur because of this.
When the task is over, TxtReplace reveals the total number of folders, files and replaced files it processed. Both Unicode and ASCII encoding modes are supported, but only ASCII files are taken into account by default. To direct the app's attention to Unicode documents, use the /u switch. Moreover, subfolders are excluded by default but they can be included with the /s switch.
No installation is necessary because TxtReplace is wrapped in a single executable file whose process can be called from a console-based tool, whether it's run from the hard drive or an external storage device.
To sum it up, TxtReplace provides you with a fast and uncomplicated way for searching and replacing words across multiple text documents at the same time, offering support for both ASCII and Unicode encoding modes.
