Since it’s the main way to handle all operations you perform on your PC, Windows comes equipped with management tools for different components. There are also third-party alternatives like VAS Free System Tools you can use. It targets different areas of your computer to optimize performance, and remove files you no longer need.

Once launched, the application automatically hides to the tray area. Interacting with the corresponding icon lets you choose the component you want to launch. You can run more at a time, with choices like disk cleaner, startup manager, uninstall manager, registry editor, and memory optimizer.

The disk cleaner aims to scan your computer, or an external drive for temporary files, recent, temporary Internet files, and cookies. Files are not removed on the spot, first taking you through a scan operation, which doesn’t take too long.

Programs which automatically run with Windows can be managed from the startup manager. It can be used to modify, or remove existing items from the current, or all users on the computer. You can add new items by simply specifying key name and data.

Uninstalling programs through the built-in component takes little time and effort. Although only the name is shown, the process is quick, and efficient. However, leftovers might still remain, since it doesn’t scan the registry system after default removal.

The registry editor is a lot like the one you can see in Windows. A side navigation panel makes it easy to browse through keys, with items shown in a separate section. Editing is easily done by modifying values, but adding items is limited to long, string, and binary values.

Last but not least, you can keep performance in good shape with the memory optimizer. A few preset strength levels can be selected, with optimization initiated at the press of a button. This component can be made to run with Windows, and even configured to automatically optimize when memory drops below a specific percentage.

All things considered, we can safely state that, although it hasn’t been updated in quite a while now, VAS Free System Tools comes with a decent set of computer management utilities, letting you handle various areas ranging from startup items, cleaning junk items, to modifying registries, and optimizing memory.
