What is ViewMate?

ViewMate is a super helpful software that lets you see the CAD data saved in Gerber files. It doesn’t just import CAD and CAM aperture lists and show what’s inside, but it also gives you some cool editing tools to play around with. Just keep in mind that this app is mainly a viewer, so you can’t save or export any files.

Understanding the Interface

The first time you open ViewMate, the interface might look a bit busy. Don’t worry! It has lots of options, but if you're not sure how to use it, just check out the help menu for guidance.

Importing Gerber Data

This software can import several formats of Gerber data like Basic Gerber, Gerber Extended, and MDA Autoplot. It even translates HPGL, drill, and aperture data into Gerber when you import them! Plus, you can insert, delete, or edit D Code definitions easily.

Edit with Ease

With ViewMate, you can do many things like enable layer visibility and make pads or traces visible. You can change colors of selected items to white or another contrasting color. Zooming in or out? No problem! You can pan the screen around and check out properties of different elements too.

Positioning and Measuring Tools

This software includes handy tools for positioning and measuring. You get cursor position tracking, full-screen cursor options, a screen grid for better layout understanding, and marked locations to keep everything organized.

Edit Your Documents

You'll find plenty of features for editing documents here! You can insert new plot data or edit entire layers without breaking a sweat. Want to add a pad, trace, rectangle, circle or even some text? Go right ahead!

Simplified Editing Options

Edit your files easily by deleting, moving or copying selected elements. Moving layers is super simple too; just align or swap them with minimal effort!

No Saving? No Problem!

Even though ViewMate doesn’t let you save changes made to your documents directly within the app, it does have an awesome built-in option that allows you to print multiple files quickly.
