vxpeViewer

vxpeViewer is a feather-light software utility designed for experienced PC users interested in studying the internal structure of Windows portable executables (PE), such as headers, sections and directories, along with import and export resources. It also comes packed with hexadecimal viewer.

There is no setup kit involved, which makes this tool portable. It means that you can copy the downloaded package to a pen drive to be able to effortlessly run it on any computer without setup.

No changes are made to the Windows registry in this regard. On the other hand, the app creates and updates a configuration file to remember your settings, so you shouldn't run it from a write-protected device.

As far as appearance goes, the interface of this program isn't impressive, preferring to focus on functionality instead. It's based on a standard window with a classic look and neatly organized layout.

After opening a file by resorting to the integrated file browser, you can view and analyze its structure when it comes to heders, directories, sections, imports and exports, as well as the hex code.

It's possible to make changes and overwrite the original file or create a new one by indicating an output directory and file name, undo actions, cut, copy and paste data, hide the toolbar and status bar to create a less cluttered layout, as well as configure printing settings and print information. Keyboard shortcuts are supported.

The software application used a small amount of CPU and RAM in our tests, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance. It was stable in our tests and didn't hang, crash or indicate errors.
