Wallpaper Switcher .NET is a software utility that gives you the possibility to create a list of many desktop wallpapers to periodically rotate. It's practical for older Windows editions which don't have this feature built in. However, it can be used on newer versions as well.

Apart from the fact that it's necessary to download and install .NET Framework unless you already have it, there's nothing else noteworthy about setup.

As far as the UI goes, the program opts for a standard panel that lists all buttons, giving you an overview of all options.

BMP, JPG, PNG and GIF images can be loaded from folders or multiple selected files available on a local, removable or network drive. You can preview each picture in a built-in viewer to make sure you're not using the wrong file and remove any entry from the list if this is indeed the case.

The wallpaper position can be set to center, stretch or tile. However, you should know that this setting is applied to all files since there's no possibility to configure options for each photo.

Desktop backgrounds can be cycled every time you turn on the computer, only once a day (at the first boot) or at any frequency you indicate (in minutes). Wallpaper Switcher .NET is capable of automatically starting at every Windows boot until told otherwise. It runs in the systray.

Although it hasn't been updated for long, Wallpaper Switcher .NET worked smoothly on newer Windows versions. It was stable throughout our testing and didn't interfere with other active programs. CPU and RAM consumption was low, so it didn't hog resources.

All things considered, this tool delivers a straightforward solution for automatically changing the desktop wallpaper based on your preferences.
