The Internet holds so much information that it nearly became a daily routine and, in some cases, even a necessity. But to establish the connection between your computer and the information superhighway, the cable is not enough. Web browsers like web explorer are the gateways that make it possible to reach desired content.
As you've probably seen in other similar applications, like the one you're using now, there's an upper toolbar equipped with the address field, navigation buttons and a few more functions. Worth mentioning are the searching options which let you use Bing, Yahoo!, or Google as a preferred engine, with a single click.
However, beyond this point, nearly every other aspect is in freefall. On the one hand, after providing the URL or search query, hitting “Return” isn't of much help, so you need to use the dedicated toolbar button. What's more, the main window can only be adjusted to cover the whole desktop, or to a maximum window resolution of 1280 x 720, which can get slightly disturbing, especially because of uncomfortable desktop positioning.
In case you want want to visit multiple pages at a time, the application lets you bring up multiple instances, which covers up for the missing tab support. However, the amount of system resources used leaves a little something to be desired, and you might significantly affect your computer's performance with a lot of running content.
There are a few more tools at your disposal, such as the possibility to set a home page, or organize bookmarks. Unfortunately, only the first one works like a charm, with the bookmarks feature only allowing you to delete entries and no functional button to add more.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that web explorer has a lot to learn from existing industry giants, both feature-wise and in terms of functionality. Available features don't always come in handy, with the poor design only making you look away, and too many system resources used for what it provides in return.
