Programming is still best accomplished through code writing, with an abundance of programming languages available. Each is guided by its own set of functions and syntaxes, and can easily be written even in plain text editors. However, advanced editors like WhiteSnake Editor provide a lot more comfort and flexibility in operations.

The application takes little time to install on your computer. Note that it’s not a multifunctional IDE, and you’re only able to work on bits of code for languages like Squirrel, and PAWN. As such, the only supported file formats are NUT, and PWN. Tabs are not implemented, but you can have multiple instances active at a time.

Most of the space represents the edit area, which is fitted with line numbering on the side for easy tracking of lines of code. Syntax highlighting is a default feature, neatly delimiting functions and expressions from regular values through different colors. However, there are no additional details, such as line counter, or caret position on screen.

Unfortunately, edit options leave much to be desired, and most effort on your behalf relies on knowing the correct forms of syntaxes. There’s no preset library of codes snippets to minimize the risk of error, or even a debugger to be able to run the code and see whether or not there are mistakes in the code.

On the other hand, the application does offer the option to try and compile code. Note that appropriate syntax needs to be used for the compiler to recognize the code. Projects can then be saved to file, or uploaded to PASTEBIN to share with others or temporarily store.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that WhiteSnake Editor is a straightforward method of putting together bits of code, save, and compile. Language support is rather disappointing, while the range of edit options only differentiates it from a plain text editor through the syntax highlighter.
